Malaysia Airlines and Royal Air Maroc have officially signed a codeshare agreement aimed at expanding connectivity across Africa, Europe, and Asia, enhancing network options for travellers in 2026 and beyond. The partnership goes into effect immediately, placing mutual marketing codes on each other’s strategic long-haul services.
Under the agreement, Malaysia Airlines will add its “MH” code on Royal Air Maroc flights between Casablanca and Doha, London, and Paris, while Royal Air Maroc will apply its “AT” code on Malaysia Airlines flights serving Kuala Lumpur–Doha, London, and Paris.
Enhancing Intercontinental Connectivity
The codeshare strengthens the ability of both carriers to offer passengers a wider choice of routing and seamless connections. It leverages the combined networks of both airlines, complementing their roles within the oneworld airline alliance and building global reach across three continents.
Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, managing director of Malaysia Aviation Group, stated that the partnership supports Malaysia Airlines’ broader network strategy, offering increased access and flexibility for travellers.
Royal Air Maroc CEO Hamid Addou highlighted that the agreement reflects a commitment to strengthen international presence and offer improved travel options between Africa, Europe, and Asia.
How the Codeshare Works
- Malaysia Airlines “MH” code on Royal Air Maroc flights: Casablanca (CMN) → Doha (DOH), London Heathrow (LHR), Paris CDG (CDG).
- Royal Air Maroc “AT” code on Malaysia Airlines flights: Kuala Lumpur (KUL) → Doha, London, Paris.
The codeshare enables joint itineraries across key hubs, giving customers more options for connections and streamlined ticketing.
Strategic Context
This partnership is significant amid a rebound in post-pandemic travel demand and increased long-haul flight growth. Carriers globally are reinforcing connectivity through alliances and bilateral agreements to capture leisure and business travellers across regions. The oneworld alliance, linking member carriers’ networks, plays a central role in facilitating these strategic tie-ups.
For Malaysia Airlines, the deal bolsters its Asia–Europe–Africa reach, complementing recent network expansions including new flights to European destinations and Asia Pacific growth.
Passenger Benefits and Outlook
Passengers can expect:
- Expanded routing flexibility between Asia, Europe, and Africa
- Streamlined booking with combined itinerary options
- Enhanced frequent flyer benefits across codeshare services
The agreement strengthens both carriers’ positions as gateways between continents and aligns with broader global aviation trends toward partnership-driven connectivity improvements.
