Royal Air Maroc Boeing 787 at Casablanca hub for 2026 route expansion

Royal Air Maroc Expands Network With New Routes Slated for 2026

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is set to roll out a significant expansion of its international route network in 2026, adding multiple new destinations across Africa, Europe, and the Americas from its hub in Casablanca, Aviation Week Network reports.

Beginning in April 2026, the Moroccan flag carrier plans to introduce new services to Pointe-Noire (Republic of Congo), Tripoli (Libya), Beirut (Lebanon), and two Spanish cities, Alicante and Bilbao, as part of a broader strategy to strengthen its global connectivity and support tourism and economic development.

New Routes and Dates

According to RAM and the Aviation Week Network article:

  • April 2026: Launch of new medium-haul services to Pointe-Noire, Tripoli, Beirut, Alicante, and Bilbao.
  • June 2026: New flights to Palma de Mallorca and Verona are scheduled, further enhancing RAM’s European footprint.
  • Continuing expansion includes previously announced services such as Casablanca–St. Petersburg, as well as long-haul growth with a Casablanca–Los Angeles nonstop service, operating three times weekly via Boeing 787 Dreamliners starting 7 June 2026.

CEO Hamid Addou frames these additions as part of the airline’s ambitious growth trajectory, noting that since 2023 RAM has added about 10 aircraft, increased frequencies on strategic routes, and opened nearly 20 international services, and now moves into a “new phase” with at least 10 additional 2026 routes.

Strategic Rationale

RAM’s expansion supports multiple strategic goals:

  • Strengthening the Casablanca hub as a gateway between continents
  • Enhancing African intra-continental connectivity
  • Increasing access to key economic and cultural markets in Europe and North America

The new Los Angeles route, for example, is the first direct link between North Africa and the U.S. West Coast, underscoring RAM’s role in connecting the African continent to major global centers.

Fleet and Growth Outlook

To support this expansion, RAM is expected to introduce upgraded long-haul aircraft featuring newer cabins and enhanced passenger experiences. The airline’s long-term fleet plan targets growth from about 60 aircraft today to roughly 200 by 2037, a reflection of Morocco’s ambitions to elevate Casablanca’s status as a major aviation hub.

Industry and Regional Context

Royal Air Maroc’s 2026 network strategy aligns with broader regional aviation developments, including airport infrastructure modernization efforts funded by entities like the African Development Bank, which approved financing for Moroccan airport expansions as part of growth ahead of major international events.
